Writing Residency at Prairie Futures

I’m getting ready to head up to Joes, Colorado for a week-long residency at Prairie Futures, courtesy of the art initiative Prairie Sea Projects. While I’m there from June 7-14, I’ll be roaming a bit and working on a sort series of essays focusing on rural life on the Great Plains. I’ve already started the writing a bit in anticipation…it’s tentatively titled “Once More to the Rural,” which is a tip of the hat to the great E.B. White, of course, and his essay “Once More to the Lake.” Always a favorite of mine, and it’ll be great to be out of the city for a bit, reconnecting to the farms and the folks and the festivals and the fare that so effectively inhabit a landscape not designed specifically for them. Where will this writing appear? Still to be determined, but it’ll appear, and I’ll post again when I know where.
