Flatland at the Terrain.org Table – AWP 2022

Always grateful to join the Terrain.org table at AWP. If you don’t know Terrain.org, you should. One of the best journals out there these days, and next year (AWP Seattle 2023) will mark their 25th anniversary. I’ll be there–so should you, if you’re reading this!

Zoom Reading with Sting & Honey!

Very much looking forward to joining these other great writers in a celebration of Millikin University’s new chapbook press. C’mon join us on Facebook Live on 4/29 at 7:30 CST (that’s 6:30 for us here in Mountain).

Featured Reader for F-Bomb!

F-Bomb is a fantastic flash reading series here in Denver; I’ve long been a fan, and my pal Jamey Trotter asked me to head up the F-Bomb event for Tuesday, April 20. That’s right: 4/20. As in the pot-holiday here in Colorado. I’m writing something brand-new and pot-related for the occasion, as well as reading a couple of flash pieces from Flatland. Dude. I mean duuuuuuuude. Too cool. Check out the details: F-Bomb Denver.

Flatland is a Colorado Book Award Finalist!

Flatland was just named a finalist for a 2020 Colorado Book Award! Winners will be announced on May 30. Here’s hoping this little book continues to do big things. (And congrats to my cousin Britten, too! Happy to share the honors with you, cousin!)

Pushcart Nominations – Best of the Small Press!

Happy to say that my flash fiction has been nominated for the Pushcart Best of the Small Press award for this past year, and three stories are being considered for inclusion. This is my second time nominated for a Pushcart, which is always an honor in and of itself. Fingers crossed–I’d love to be a part of this always-amazing collection–but the nomination itself is happiness!

Five Stories, Four Lit Mags, Tons of Gratitude

This fall was a big one for publication; Split Lip just published a new flash piece called The Other Norma Jean;” Heavy Feather Review published (in print!) two stories; and Nice Cage solicited a story from me–this one’s called “The Rule of Monsters.” Finally, the humor lit-mag Defenestration reprinted “Now Hiring at the Hog Trough” from Flatland. Whew! Thanks to all who supported these stories!

Millikin LitFest 2019!

Happy to be visiting Millikin University next week as part of the 2019 Literary Festival–I’m doing a reading Friday night, November 8 in the Albert Taylor Theatre, as well as a workshop Saturday morning the 9th, and a craft lecture that afternoon. (For more information, check out their webpage at https://millikin.edu/literaryfestival.

If you’re around Decatur, IL that weekend, I’d love to see you there!
